India's First Seaplane Service Started in Kerala!

Seaplane took off in Kerala


Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy has launched the country's first seaplane service from the backwaters in Kollam.

Government of Kerala had decided to initiate Seaplane service in the state and Kerala Tourism Infrastructure Ltd. (KTIL) was entrusted to co-ordinate the project and was appointed as the nodal agency for the Kerala Seaplane Project.

Seaplane service will provide an additional layer of transportation by offering last mile connectivity by air to the renowned destinations of the state. The abundant water bodies across the state will be strategically leveraged to effectively implement this service. 

The service will provide an unique experience to travellers both as a joy ride and as an effective mode of air transport to distant destinations. The initial operations shall be in a prioritised circuit consisting of, Astamudi, Punnamada, Kumarakon, Munnar, Bolgatty and Bekal with the three airports as base station.

The possibility of connectivity by air between international airports and destinations like Munnar, Kumarakom, Kochi etc. is a unique offering.
